Mentorship Programme

Welcome to the Mentorship Programme of the Department of Earth and Climate Science!

Our mentorship programme is designed to walk alongside you — whether you are just beginning your undergraduate journey or advancing through postgraduate research — as you grow academically, professionally, and personally. We believe that guidance from experienced mentors can make all the difference in helping students find direction, build confidence, and unlock opportunities in the Earth and Climate Sciences.

We look forward to supporting you every step of the way.

Dr. Mutai is the Departmental Mentorship Coordinator specializes in satellite meteorology, weather and climate prediction, and physical and environmental meteorology. He coordinates mentorship across all four units of the Department, connecting students with the guidance, resources, and networks they need to grow academically, professionally, and as champions for their communities. The mentorship is designated to: -

  • Provide academic guidance on coursework, research, and study skills
  • Support career planning and professional development
  • Ease the transition into university life and, for postgraduates, into independent research
  • Foster a supportive community within the Department
  • Connect students with opportunities in research, internships, and industry
