The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences, University of Nairobi, hosted Dr. Marian Selorm Sapah, Senior Lecturer in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry at the University of Ghana, for a webinar held on 13th October 2026.
The webinar formed part of the European Association of Geochemistry and The Geochemical Society (EAG-GS) Outreach Tour, which also included engagements at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and the Technical University of Kenya (TUK).
During the session, Dr. Sapah shared insights into the identification of meteorites, the different types and their distinguishing characteristics. She emphasized the importance of developing local capacity through specialized training to equip researchers and students with the skills needed to identify and classify meteorites accurately.
The presentation was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with students and faculty members. The engagement also provided an opportunity to explore potential research collaborations between the participating institutions.
