CALL FOR PROPOSALS: RESEARCH AND INNOVATION GRANTS IN ENGINEERING 2024/2025

KENET ENGINEERING PROPOSAL CALL FEB 2025

Kenya Education Network (KENET) plays a pivotal role in catalyzing collaboration in research and education among member universities and research institutions. Through the facilitation of Special Interest Groups (SIGs), KENET fosters collaboration in priority academic areas, discovers active researchers and faculty, and provides essential funding opportunities, including research and innovation grants for researchers and member institutions, as well as travel grants for faculty and graduate students.

Research and Innovation are important pillars in the development of any society. For Kenya to industrialize and improve the well-being of her people, increasing investment in research and development within Engineering is a must. This call seeks to fund research in engineering with great potential for impact in Kenya.

Engineering Research and Innovation Grant: Areas of Focus

The areas of focus for this round of funding are:

  1. Engineering Research (ER): Foster collaboration between engineers and scientists to develop new methods to solve problems relevant in our social context.
  2. Engineering Teaching (ET): Advance the development and testing of materials to enhance the teaching of engineering disciplines.

Eligibility

This call is open to full-time PhD faculty/reserachers in any accredited Engineering discipline at KENET member institutions

a) Engineering Research (ER) Call Eligibility Requirements

  1. Open to faculty/researchers with a PhD awarded within the past five (5) years 
  2. Applicants must have an existing research team or demonstrate the ability to establish a research team at their university, which must include full-time postgraduate students.
  3. Demonstrated active research interest is required

b) Engineering Teaching (ET) Call Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Open to faculty/researchers with a PhD awarded more than five (5) years prior to the date of this call.
  2. Applicants must be active in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels within the last five (5) years.
  3. Applicants must be based at an accredited engineering program at a Kenyan university with active postgraduate programs.

Proposals with all supporting documentation should be sent via email to enggrants@kenet.or.ke  on or before February 28, 2025 at 5.00 PM East African time
