Trends in Climate Variables (Temperature and Rainfall) and Local Perceptions of Climate Change in Lamu, Kenya

Community adaptation to the negative impacts of climate change benefits from an analysis of both the trends in climate variables and people’s perception of climate change. This paper contends that members of the local community have observed changes in temperature and rainfall patterns and that these perceptions can be positively correlated with meteorological records. This is particularly useful for remote regions like Lamu whereby access to weather data is spatially and temporally challenged.

21st Gender Summit – Europe, from 14 to 16 April 2021

The 21st Gender Summit will take place on-line on 14-16 April. It will mark the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Gender Summit platform. To celebrate, the Elsevier Foundation prepared a story of our journey so far, which maps important milestones the Gender Summit global community has achieved since the first Gender Summit event in November 2011. A 10th anniversary is a good opportunity to take stock and plan what needs to be done in the next 10 years.

ARUA- CD ONLINE WORKSHOP ON CLIMATE CHANGE CURRICULA FROM  27th May to 1 June 2021

The University of Nairobi , represented by the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA) in Collaboration with the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in Climate and Development (ARUA-CD) Project will be hosting an online workshop which will be convened for four days from Thursday 27 May to Tuesday 1 June (i.e. 27 May, 28 May, 31 May and 1 June) with ±30 lecturers from southern, west and east Africa.
