On Thursday 26th August 2021, two academic staff members from Chuka University and Tharaka University College, namely; Dr Odek Anthony and Dr Ngugi Fidelis came to visit the Department of Earth and Climate Sciences, and specifically, the geology laboratories, as they are in the process of implementing a new geology programme at their university and were desirous to know what kind of laboratory set-up is required to adequately run the programme from the academic year 2022-2023. 

The African Climate and Environment Center – Future African Savannas (AFAS) is hosted conjointly at the Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny (UFHB) with its African Centre of Excellence on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Agriculture (CEA-CCBAD) in Côte d’Ivoire and the University of Nairobi (UoN) with its Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA) (department of earth climate sciences)  in Kenya.

The University has partnered with Kenya Forest Service and Equity Group to plant over 5000 seedlings across all campuses. The college planted 400 seedlings with the help of students and staff from all the Departments. Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA) was represented by Mr. James O. Kaoga and Ms. Martha Mugo.

ICCA Free Training on 7 Vortex Platform 

The Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation Research Support Group (ICCA-RSG) and the Climate Change and Sustainability Basics (CC&SB) Society of Kenya will host a free training this Thursday 24th June 2021 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm.

The Institute for Climate and Adaptation is pleased to announce that Jackson Wachira, a current PhD student at the institute, is among the 68 PhD students and Young Researchers from the ‘global south’ admitted to the 3rd Annual Write-shop in Critical Agrarian Studies and Scholar-Activism organized and sponsored by the Journal of Peasant Studies (JPS) together with other institutions that focus on critical agrarian studies.
